Playgroups

A playgroup is an informal session where mums, dads, grandparents, caregivers, children
and babies meet together in a relaxed environment.
Playgroups can help children’s learning and development through their participation in new
experiences and interactions with other children. Attending a playgroup reduces isolation for
families, because playgroups provide regular social activities and opportunities to connect
with the local community.
Playgroups meet in various locations and are organised by parents and caregivers. You can
usually visit for free before deciding to join. There may be a small charge to cover costs of
refreshments or art equipment at each subsequent visit, depending on the individual
playgroups.
Contact Playgroup Australia on 1800 171 882 or go to www.playgroupaustralia.com.au/ to
find a playgroup.
